January "WONG NOTES"
Hello everyone, sorry the WONG NOTES are a bit late but you all know what we have to go through to get a show up. Especially one as large as Jesus Christ Superstar. We started our rehearsals in Langenthal, Switzerland and got to see the 3 versions of the huge set in Bad Nauheim, Germany. It was very cold (10 degrees) in the famous spa town. They have a very famous person's statue standing at the foot of their park. His name is Elvis Presely. He was stationed there for two years in the 50's. Don't know if he sang at the local pubs but if it's anything like now, he was singing alone. Those Blue Haired ladies who got wrapped in seaweed and smeared in mud all day were in bed by six. However, they did have a Chinese Restaurant in town, and that was good enough for me to get some RICE. We had over-dosed on potatoes scalloped, boiled, french fried , cottage, mashed, parsley, and curried. I'll save the rest of the menu for the Food Channel. Hope you all had a great New Year's Eve. The cast of SUPERSTAR did. They celebrated in Madiswil, Switzerland a small town near Bern, eating Swiss fondue, drinking kirsh and dancing til 3am. Guess who was leading the PACK!!!!!!!!! Well, at least the director let the cast come into rehearsals at 3 PM the next day. Oh, I just considered it a 10 out of 12 tech day. Then we were off to Russellheim, Germany to see and meet Chris Lee (lighting designer) and Abe Jacobs ( sound designer). One crazy day of tech and putting the final touches on the production. The rope that Judas hangs himself with finally arrived and we need a specialist to tie the knot. Thanks to a techie who had seen those Old Westerns, we got a great cowboy noose. Opening night is over and now it's back to the reality of life. New Year's greeting came from PATTI FORD (VAL - NIKKO TOUR) who wishes all well and tells us she's PREGNANT. Congratulations to you and Whitney. We'll be waiting for the ACL Baby. JOSE RIVERA (Costumes-Atlantic City) writes us to say he hopes all have a Happy, Healthy New Year, and hopes the new year brings Peace to the World. HOWARD LIVITSKY (Musical Director-Atlantic City) writes to say Happy New Year and if anyone needs coaching call him at 212 740-8866. He's back in town. LORENA CREPALDI (ASST. DIRECTOR ACL-ITALY) says "Tanti Agurie" to all from Italy and wishes Peace on Earth. SAMMY WILLIAMS (ORIGINAL-PAUL) says Happy New Year and lets us know that his rehearsals for Doing Judy are going well and says this is the most challenging role he's created. Read more about Sammy on Updates page. FRAN LIEBERGAL (Marvin Hamilsch's assist. Original ACL) says Happy New Year to ACL members and wishes all a successful New Year. BOB KALE (CASTING -2001 TOUR) sends holiday greetings for both him and BARRY MOSS. They both did a great job at casting the the tour last summer that spent the last 6 weeks at PAPER MILL PLAYHOUSE. KD SMITH and MIKEL (director and prodcer ACL Flordia) says their show was a huge success in Florida and they hope to keep the MICHAEL BENNETT legacy going as long as they can. REBECCA KUPKA (MAGGIE -2001 TOUR) has just had an ACL Baby (see photo on Babies page). RILEY SHEA OVERTON. Born December 30, 2001 ,7:51 pm. 7lbs 7oz and 20 inches long. Rebecca left the tour when she started showing. (see photo below) She danced that opening til she was 3 months pregnant. Bless her, I know Riley knows that opening combination very well.
Hope you will continue to write in. All A CHORUS LINE STORIES welcomed. In loving spirit,
