Winter 2005 WONG Notes

MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

May this Christmas be Joyous
May the New Year bring Peace & Happiness

So, where have I been? Where have YOU been? Long time no hear from you all... December came and went but not before Cousin Irene and I went to see TIM BYERS (Richie - Surflight) dancing on the largest piano keys at FAO Schwartz on 5th Ave, the Christmas Tree at Rockefeller Center and examined all the Christmas stalls at Columbus Circle. Australian puppeteer extrodinare, David Hamilton, came to New York for his holiday fix. And Stephanie Powers and Ronobir Lahiri rehearsed THE KING & I at Chelsea Studios. Was happy to have Cousin Chester play co-host at Wo Hop Restaurant in Chinatown as Stephanie told her Princess Ying Yowalak (Daphne Chen) all about the giraffe's blood system and ate an 8-course meal of delicious delicacies. Cousin Chester's wife Rosanne did a great job of preparing the menu, as well as casting the Chinese children in this National company of THE KING & I. Then there was Happy New Year's in Fort Myers, Florida, watching the ball go down on TV and screaming like a maniac wishing we all were in New York. It was Sandy Duncan and Martin Vindovich's last week as Anna and the King. Since the company was rehearsing with Stephanie during the day and performing with Sandy in the evenings, they had no time to even think of the changeover. The show must go on. Stephanie got great reviews and she chartered a bus the very next day for the company to go to BUSCH GARDENS to see the giraffes she captured (27) in Africa for William Holden's (her late husband) Wildlife Foundation. We were treated royally and every newspaper and TV station was on hand to see the children and Stephanie feeding her giraffes. A good time was had by all. However, it's always good to get home and break rice bowls at Uncle Mon Kwong's. At 94 years of age he has a hearty appitite! How could you not, with such good HOME COOKING.

BOB AVIAN and JOHN BREGLIO'S announcement in The New York Times that ACL is on its way back to B'way set all answering machines and computers off-kilter with so many messages to all of us involved. Even producers were calling for future investments. Boy, was I popular for a few days. Still, I was happy to hear from all of you. It only means we will have lots to talk about on the website and I know how much you all really care about the show. So my next adventure is in Cape Town, South Africa. Next time you hear from me, I will be speaking a little Zulu and writing to you from the sea and sands of Darkest Africa. So, now let's see who has been to writing us...

And when he's not working, he goes back to school. He is divorced and has a 12 year old son named Evan who lives in Miami. I hope you all are well, happy and healthy.

JOE LANGWORTH (Mark -B'way)
Happy New Year. I hope this finds you all well and I wish you only the best for 2005. I just arrived in D.C.. I'm here with MILLIE...yes I'm still with the show!! Just got back from a month in Australia. Fantastic time! It's summer there now, so the weather was very agreeable. Very cool people and a complex environment with lots to explore. The show gave me a leave of absence for the trip and offered me the asst. dance captain position. So I'm still here.
All my best,
Joe Langworth

Hopefully you all had a wonderful holiday season and I wish you a very Happy New Year to come.
I got to spend time with my family in Northern California, which was very nice and things continue to go well here in Los Angeles...at least now that the rain is over and we'll have a chance to dry out.
Be well,
Jeff Payton
aka your "Don"

SAMMY WILLIAMS (Original Paul)
Merry Xmas and a Happy New Year to everyone.
Sam

Best Wishes to: SIAN SIMMONS (Butch, Richie cover - Houston) and ERIC DYSART (Richie - Houston)
All of us at achorusline.org wish Eric and Sian speedy recovery from their injuries. As you know, Eric and Sian were both injured during the opening combination in Houston, leaving Parker Esse (6'4") to do the role.

So, with the news that ACL will be making its return to B'way in 2006, you all have time to shed those pounds, get back into class, bone up on your double pirouettes, and sing and don't sing if you are a Kristine. Well, at least we'll all be in shape together to launch and pay homage to our favorite show. So write me and tell me how you feel about the show coming back to B'way and who you see playing the roles! What do you think about Patrick Swayze as Zach?

Please write at: .

In loving spirit,

Baayork
