Sammy Williams in Doing Judy in LA

From the LA Edition of Frontiers Magazine, by Les Spindle

Foremost among the assets is an array of stellar performances shining brightly under Tom Pardoe's witty and energetic direction. The premise is simple but delicious: At a school for drag performers run by Kenny Carlisle (Todd Sherry), someone is knocking off all of the Garland impersonators. Enter macho police detective Mike Manley (Jim Pirri), who goes undercover (in a manner of speaking) as an aspiring female impersonator, hoping to nail the murderer. Is it the aging diva alcoholic (Sammy Williams), his flighty young lover, Sugar (L.B. Fisher), the Latina spitfire Chica (George Weiss Vando), a homophobic woman (Patti Allison) whose gay son has stopped all contact with her, or the leather-inclined gay detective Lucky (Michael Bailey Smith)? .... The standout in the crackerjack ensemble is the venerable Sammy Williams (of the original Broadway "Chorus Line"), an unabashed hoot as an aging diva yearning for his belated stardom...The immortal Garland would certainly have approved of this breezy and affectionate confection.

Bravo Sammy!
